About Lighthouse and Women's Services

Catholic Charities' mission is to “extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ to the poor and those in need.”

The “poor” may be a baby in-utero—and the mother carrying that child. Or, it may be a woman who has suffered domestic abuse and needs shelter, with her children, so she can find a new home with stability.

Our "Women’s Services" refers to a collection of Catholic Charities services, all of which seek to provide women with specialized care, including prenatal care, counseling and provision of basic necessities.

Those services include:

• Lighthouse Women’s Center a licensed medical center located across from Planned Parenthood;
• The Gabriel Project providing pregnant women and new mothers with diapers, blankets and other goods;
• Father Ed Judy House providing shelter for homeless women and children;
• Project Rachel providing post-abortive counseling through Catholic Charities' Regina Caeli Clinical Services
• Respect Life Resources providing educational and training programs regarding the sanctity of life.

The Mission of Lighthouse Women's Center

Lighthouse Women’s Center, which opened its doors on October 1, 2012, has established itself as a foundational piece of our Women's Services spectrum. It also remains the primary focus of our annual gala.

Lighthouse has become a “beacon of hope” to women and men experiencing an unplanned pregnancy. Here, clients receive free pregnancy tests, free ultrasounds and free, confidential counseling.

Several babies have already been born as a result of the direct support their families received at Lighthouse Women’s Center.

Throughout the first year of this life-saving ministry, here’s what we’ve realized: these women need a continuum of care that includes emergency assistance, shelter, counseling, housing, child care, victim assistance…the list is much longer and the needs are great.

Expanding our reach

We assure each of our Lighthouse clients of our prayers and availability to them in the weeks, months and years to come. As part of that promise, we are routinely connecting our Lighthouse clients with trusted, pro-life physicians, certified counselors and valuable educational materials.

With your help, we seek to continue the expansion of these services for mothers and all women in need.
